General description technique/protocol: Because of its tiny volume and irregular shape it is probably not possible to obtain a PHAL injection site confined entirely to the BSTv. Nevertheless, we were fortunate to obtain one experiment (BST91; Figs. 1 and 2) where the very small injection site labeled neurons confined almost entirely to the BSTv, except for a few in the BSTmg.
