General description technique/protocol: A total of 19 rats received lectin deposits in the A2 region that were effective in labeling projections to the PVHor to the SO. Of these, the most prominent inputs were seen in four animals with deposits placed at the level of area postrema, just medial to the solitary tract and dorsolateral to the dorsal motor nucleus of the vagus (see Fig. 2). The A2 noradrenergic cell group corresponds to NTSm (Swanson 2004).
