Precommissural nucleus | Subparafascicular nucleus magnocellular part |
strong | PHAL | At the mammillary level, most of the fibers coursing through the posterior hypothalamic nucleus are poorly branched and have the appearance of fibers-of-passage. However, substantial numbers of anterogradely labeled varicosities and boutons-of-passage are observed in the
nucleus as well as in the adjacent magnocellular part of the subparafascicular nucleus (Fig. 5J,K). | Canteras N.S & Goto M., 1999 |

General description technique/protocol: In five experiments, the PHA-L injection labeled neurons that were confined almost entirely to the PRC. In all of these experiments, a very similar pattern of anterogradely labeled fibers was observed, and of these, we choose experiment PRC11 (Figs. 4, 5) as a prototype to illustrate our results, because the injection in that experiment labeled the most extensive population of cells in the PRC |
