Labeled cells are also found dorsal to the rhinal sulcus, in the posterior and ventral (AIv) agranular insular areas, respectively. The former area contains a modest number of reactive neurons in layer V. The AIv is richer in marked neurons. These are confined to layer II and III, often close to the dorsal agranular insular area (Fig. 5C). Collator note: continuous labeling from PIR to AId in these levels.
