Numerous BSTtr axons course through the caudal substantia innominata (in the ansa peduncularis) to enter the medial and capsular parts of the central amygdalar nucleus and the anterodorsal part of the medial amygdalar nucleus (Fig. 6I–O). All along the way, these fibers branch and generate abundant boutons, indicating that the BSTtr innervates densely all three regions.

General description technique/protocol: Finally, the BSTtr was heavily labeled in experiment BST100, with slight contamination in adjacent regions of the BSTif, BST anterolateral area, and substantia innominata (Figs. 1D,D', 2).
