Case pg352. Soma notes 36 female Sprague-Dawley rats weighing 200-350g. 10 microliters of CT-HRP(.20%-.40%) were injected into one eye ?behind the lens into the vitreous chamber of the eye. pressure injection over 1 min. Terminal notes Med. component of the RHT?in addition, labeled fibres and terms were found lateral to the lateral boundary of the SCN, in the lateroanterior hypothalamic nucleus. Lat component diffuse labeling in the lateroanterior hypothalamic nucleus was evident.

...at the anterior hypothalamic level, the rostral pole of the anterior hypothalamic nucleus presented a dense cluster of retrogradely labeled cells distributed in a region that seems to overlap with a territory known to contain large numbers of neurons expressing enkephalin (Harlan et al., 1987), whereas the caudal two-thirds of the nucleus contained relatively sparse numbers of marked cells (Fig. 3D–I).

...large numbers of anterogradely labeled axons arising from the PRC take a ventral course through the periventricular gray, and, although the vast majority of these fibers continue rostrally through the posterior hypothalamic nucleus (Fig. 5J,K), a smaller group of axons enters the ventral tegmental area, which seems to receive a moderate innervation, and then appears to continue rostrally through the medial forebrain bundle (Fig. 5J–L).
