Except in the anterior and posterior cortical amygdaloid nuclei, the immunoreactive neurons were elliptical, with a large unstained nucleus, and moderately stained perikarya, similar in appearance to those found in the caudate–putamen. As landmarks, we considered the extent and shape of the anterior commissure, and the relative position of the internal capsule.
