From this terminal field a group of PHAL-labeled fibers extends medially through the lateral parvicellular part of the PVH, which also contains dense terminal boutons, to contribute inputs to all of the more medial parts of the nucleus, but especially the dorsal medial parvicellular and periventricular parts at atlas (Swanson, 1999) levels 26 and 27 (Figs. 3D, 6M,N, 8G,H). General description technique/protocol: Nevertheless, several PHAl control injections were made in areas surrounding the BSTfu, including the dorsomedial nucleus and subcommissural zone of the BST. These two areas were examined in some detail because they contained a few labeled cells in the experiment to be described in detail (BST92).
