projection extends dorsally from the column of the fornix, at the level of the anterior hypothalamic nucleus, lightly to innervate rostromedial regions of the zona incerta (Fig. 3E-G). Collator note: see Fig 3 E, Atlas Level 26 which shows light/4 labeling of ZI and Fig. 3 G, Atlas Level 28 which shows caudal and lateral regions of the zona incerta devoid of illustrated labeled axons, while medial regions show light to 4 label.

General description technique/protocol: These projections are labeled solely by injections that label neurons in the ventral pole of what has traditionally been regarded as field CA1 in the rat. Inputs to the hypothalamus are represented by an iontophoretic injection of PHAL (Experiment HIPPO103)
