General description technique/protocol: An analysis of the injection sites for each tracer clearly showed that the amount of retrograde labeling in the PVH was directly proportional to the extent to which the dorsal vagal complex was involved in the injection site. [...] while none of the injections was strictly confined to the limits of the complex, it appears reasonable to conclude that the labeling seen in the PVH was due to the uptake of dye by fibers ad terminals in the dorsal vagal complex. Collator note: it is possible that NTS was also substantially involved.
