From the injection site, a group of fibers was observed extending rostrally into the dorsal thalamus and providing moderate inputs to the ipsilateral lateral dorsal nucleus, the lateral part of the mediodorsal nucleus, the interanterodorsal nucleus, and rostral parts of the paraventricular nucleus (Fig. 5E–J). It is important to comment here that the projection to the rostrodorsomedial part of the lateral dorsal nucleus was particularly prominent in the experiments in which the PHA-L deposit labeled larger numbers of cells in the dorsal tip of the intermediate rostrocaudal level of the PRC. Notably, both the contra- and ipsilateral projections to the lateral dorsal nucleus tended to be confined mostly to the rostrodorsomedial part of the nucleus (Fig. 5H,I).

...it was also noted from the injection site that there was a contingent of axons crossing through the posterior comissure to the other side of the brain, ascending through the contralateral dorsal thalamus, and providing a rather massive input to the contralateral lateral dorsal nucleus of the thalamus (Figs. 5H–K, 6A). Notably, both the contra- and ipsilateral projections to the lateral dorsal nucleus tended to be confined mostly to the rostrodorsomedial part of the nucleus (Fig. 5H,I).
