Receiving structure | Projection strength | Technique | General description projection | Collator | Associated reference |
87467 |
Gustatory areas | Gustatory areas |
very strong | biocytin | Intrinsic cortical labeling was confined to dPI at the level of the injection site and continued caudally to about 1 mm behind bregma where it ceased abruptly (level -1.4, Fig. 5). Collator note: the terminal stops almost exactly where GU ends caudally. See Fig. 5D-E, Swanson Atlas Levels 15-19 (+0.2 - -1.4 mm from bregma). | Shi C.J & Cassell M.D., 1998 |

Gustatory areas | Gustatory areas |
very strong | biocytin | Strong projections were seen to all layers of dAI (level +2.7, Fig. 5). Collator note: strong and very strong labeling of both Aid and GU, rostrally. See Fig. 5A-B, Swanson Atlas Levels 7-9 (+ 3.7 - +2.7 mm from bregma). | Shi C.J & Cassell M.D., 1998 |

General description technique/protocol: Case 20 (Figs. 3I, 4) had an injection into the deep layers of dPI (the gustatory dysgranular zone of Cechetto and Saper, 1987) at 1.4 mm anterior to bregma. Collator note: small bioctyin injection in the rostral part of the GU. The injection is completely included in the region, and it is mapped here onto Swanson Atlas Level 12. |
