Report ID | Sending structure | Receiving structure | Projection strength | Technique | General description projection | Collator | Associated reference |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
40659 | Field CA1 | Dorsal premammillary nucleus | moderate | CTB | In the hippocampal formation, the pyramidal layer of intermediate portions of the ventral subiculum and field CA1 contained a significant number of faintly labeled cells (Fig. 3M). | Comoli E., Ribeiro-Barbosa E.R. & Canteras N.S., 2000 | |
40660 | Field CA1 | Dorsal premammillary nucleus | light | PHAL | With PHAL injections centered in these parts of the hippocampal formation, we could observe a moderate plexus of fibers in a region adjacent to the PMd, immediately ventral to the fornix, and only a small number of these fibers seemed to extend into the boundaries of the nucleus itself. | Comoli E., Ribeiro-Barbosa E.R. & Canteras N.S., 2000 | |
41085 | Field CA1 | Dorsal premammillary nucleus | not present | PHAL | Collator note: PMd does not receive projections from this region, because all of the atlas levels were inspected and no label was found. | Comoli E., Ribeiro-Barbosa E.R. & Canteras N.S., 2000 | |
41086 | Field CA1 | Dorsal premammillary nucleus | not present | PHAL | Collator note: PMd does not receive projections from this region, because all of the atlas levels were inspected and no label was found. | Comoli E., Ribeiro-Barbosa E.R. & Canteras N.S., 2000 | |
41089 | Field CA1 | Dorsal premammillary nucleus | not present | PHAL | Collator note: PMd does not receive projections from this region, because all of the atlas levels were inspected and no label was found. | Comoli E., Ribeiro-Barbosa E.R. & Canteras N.S., 2000 |
General description technique/protocol: The distribution of neurons that project to the PMd was examined by using CTb as a retrograde tracer. As shown in Figure 1, in three experiments, the deposit of tracer appeared to be fairly confined to the PMd. The photomicrograph of a representative CTb injection site in the PMd (experiment CTb/CC#6) is shown in Figure 2, and the distribution of retrogradely labeled neurons from this experiment is illustrated schematically in Figure 3. The results of this experiment are described in detail because the injection site was entirely confined to the PMd and, at the same time, produced a robust retrograde labeling. Furthermore, the pattern of retrograde labeling in this experiment was representative of that seen in each of the other experiments with deposits centered in the PMd. |
