Except in the anterior and posterior cortical amygdaloid nuclei, the immunoreactive neurons were elliptical, with a large unstained nucleus, and moderately stained perikarya, similar in appearance to those found in the caudate–putamen. Collator note: Fig 6A roughly corresponds to levels 17-19 of Swanson Atlas. The angle of cutting seems to be different. As landmarks, we considered the extent and shape of the anterior commissure, and the relative position of the internal capsule. It is also unclear whether the large elliptical neurons are also specific to the BST nuclei.
