The main population of HCT1 neurons is located ventral to the zona incerta (ZI) in the lateral hypothalamic area. HCT1 neurons in the PHA are contiguous with this group. HCT-immunoreactive fibers are present through the entire extent of the PHA (Fig. 2B).
