dorso-caudalright hemisphereexistsIn the rostral PHA, scattered TH-immunoreactive (TH1) perikarya are located caudal to the A13 dopaminergic cell group of the zona incerta. Since there are no detectable through dopamine-beta-hydroxylase-immunoreactive perikarya in the PHA (discussed below), these neurons are probably dopaminergic.TH1 perikarya are located primarily dorsocaudally near the border of the PHA and the subparafascicular nucleus and periaqueductal gray (Fig. 2C).

ventro-lateralright hemisphereexistsMidway through the rostrocaudal extent of the PHA, a second group of TH1 cells is distributed in a circumscribed area within the supramammillary decussation. Caudally, this cell population splits into two groups, one situated ventrally within the medial supramammillary nucleus, and the second situated in the lateral confines of the PHA (Fig. 2C). They appear to be distinct from the -rostral extension of the ventral tegmental area, and are smaller than the TH1 perikarya of the A13 cell group.
