lateralbilateralmoderate...the hybridization pattern of the subiculum itself was rather complex, and it differed substantially in dorsal and ventral parts of this area. The most striking example of this was provided by alpha3, which hybrizided strongly not just to the deep half of the pyramidal layer of the dorsal subiculum, but specifically to that part of the deep pyramidal layer farthest from Ammonic filed CA1 (Fig. 3). In contrast, alpha2, alpha3, and beta2 are expressed throughout the mediolateral witdh of the dorsal subiculum. Interestingly, all the alpha subunits are expressed most highly in deeper parts of the pyramidal layer dorsally and throughout its depth ventrally, whereas beta2 expression appears to be rather uniform throughout the entire pyramidal layer of the subiculum. Collator note: the deep layer shows moderate hybridization, while the superficial layer shows only very weak signal; see Figure 2 page 319 and Table 2 pages 320-324.
